UID has three canteens with students, professors and parents as their customers. On speaking to each of the customer type it was found that they have certain concerns around the service and system. Students highlighted that the food was cold, change in cost of items was not announced anywhere, professors had concerns with the serving time and parents emphasised on issues with locating the canteens.
To develop a complete picture of the project, I also looked into canteens' side of the story. The stakeholder map helps understand who all are involved in the ecosystem, and what hierarchy looks like there.
To gain a deeper insight on whats happening I conducted a survey with all these people with the aim of understanding the root cause behind their concerns. What problems they are facing, what are they about and most importantly, why is it happening?
As the students have a majority in the college, they became the primary target audience. This led to another important decision that the primary usage of the app will be for ordering and finding seats which were the major concerns highlighted by them in the survey. They will surely expect these and all the other issues they are facing to be solved with this app.
Now that the primary user group has been identified, I needed to understand their process and see where exactly does the problem come from and what can be done to solve it. So I looked into each step of the food ordering process and had some interesting findings.
Developed a site map to plan the flow of each step while solving the identified problems in the research stage. This is for determining the flow of the app while incorporating changes that streamlines the ordering experience and enhances efficiency.
